A local apartment complex recently had our technicians install the equipment in their new fitness center. Here is an example of proper spacing and grouping of cardio and weight equipment. This layout utilizes the entirety of the room's space while also keeping enough space around each piece to be user friendly. Placement of treadmills is particularly important from a safety perspective due to the high speeds they run at. No obstructions should ever be placed near the rear of the treadmill. In the event a user falls while running there should be several feet of open space behind the treadmill that allows the user to safely get away from the moving running belt. Many users do not use the emergency stop clip while on the treadmill so an open space behind each treadmill should be kept clear at all times.
